A band of five experienced business advisors from Business Durham (Guy Bashford), North East Funds (Andrew Gibson), Department for International Trade (Paul Sparks), Digital Drive Programme (Stephen Fenwick) and NBSL (John Atkinson) to offer businesses free and impartial advice to help business address barriers to growth placed on them through Covid19 restrictions and take advantage of business opportunities and help them and grow and thrive. Collectively we have over sixty years’ experience helping firms to spot opportunities and is now offering free support to help Durham Businesses on a host of issues and have tailored their offerings to address Covid19 issues and concerns.
The kind of help available for local companies includes helping businesses find new customers/suppliers , business networks to business funding and loan options to exporting advice to possible grants and support on how to help businesses take advantage of new digital technology.
“We are looking to help County Durham based businesses big and small reach their full potential. This could be small firms with two or three employees, or larger companies with hundreds,” Guy says. “There are so many opportunities out there for businesses to expand, but owners often don’t have the time or resources to find them – that’s where we can come in. “If your business hasn’t taken up business support before, then all it takes is a short conversation to find out how I can help. – so please come and join us.”

Positive Futures met five different support organisations at the same time at the drop in clinic including the Durham Business Opportunities Programme, North East Loan Fund, Durham Digital Drive, North East Business Support Fund (NBSL) and The Department for International Trade.
One of those meetings was with Andrew Gibson from North East Loan Fund.
Andrew said: “After Guy introduced Positive Futures via the drop-in session, I recommended the North East Growth Fund and worked with the team to ensure that they had the best possible chance of securing the funds they needed to progress their business.”
Director Derek McNichol added: “The £100k loan has provided us with the funds we need gain ROTO accreditation to take on more work, improve our IT infrastructure, procure marketing support, a CRM system and attain Cyber Security Essentials accreditation to future proof our business as well as enabling our growth.”
The business also took support and advice from four the five programmes on offer.
